LIVE RANK TRACKING
A live rank tracker, not a stored database
Every position in SEO411.AI comes from a live check of today’s Google from the site’s own location. Weekly by default, daily, monthly or on demand per site, with movers up and down, keywords entered and lost, the competitors seen on page one today, AI Overview and map pack flags, and a growth chart by check.
Live Google checks became the rankings of record in October 2026; see the What is new page. Developed by Vertical Web and Beth Guide.
WHY LIVE
A stale position is worse than no position
Most rank trackers read a stored database of search results. The database is refreshed on the tool’s schedule, not yours, so a client call on Monday can rest on a position Google changed the Tuesday before. A live check asks Google at the moment of the check and records what it finds, from the site’s own city, with the AI Overview and the map pack as they appeared. The report then says what is true today, and the next check says what moved.
The check feeds the rest of the platform. A keyword with no page becomes a Content Idea with its Power Hub named. A page that slipped goes to the Content Scanner for a repair with the fewest changes. Leads and Conversions ties every ranking to the forms and calls it produced. The full walk through the platform is on the features tour.
Rank tracking
Position, best, volume, trend, AI Overview citation, map pack and the page that ranks, for every tracked keyword.
Live Google checks
The schedule, the keyword cap and the cost per check and per month, with Check rankings now.
HOW A CHECK RUNS
Five steps, every check
This is the real sequence. Nothing is estimated from a database; every number comes from the check itself.
01
Track the keywords
Paste keywords one per line, pick them from research, or let the Sunday keyword picker add money and informational keywords from Search Console.
02
Set the schedule
Weekly, daily, monthly or on demand, per site, with a keyword cap. The panel shows the cost per check and per month before you save.
03
Run the live check
Every keyword is checked on today’s Google from the site’s location. Positions, the ranking page, AI Overview and map pack flags are recorded as the rankings of record.
04
Read the movers
Movers up and down, keywords entered and lost, the competitors seen on page one today and a growth chart by check.
05
Act on it
A keyword with no page goes to Content Ideas with its Power Hub named. A page that slipped goes to the Content Scanner for a repair. Leads tie each ranking to the business it produced.
WHAT ONE CHECK RECORDS
More than a number
Each keyword in the check set records the fields below, so the tracking screen, the AI visibility screen and the reports all read from one check.
Position and best
Today's position to 100, the best position seen, and the change since the last check.
The ranking page
Which of your pages ranks, so a slip can be traced to a page and sent to the scanner.
AI Overview
Whether Google showed an AI Overview for the keyword and whether your site is cited in it.
Map pack
Whether a map pack appeared and whether you are in it, from the site's own location.
Competitors on page one
The domains seen on page one today across your keywords, with how many keywords they share.
Growth by check
A chart of keywords ranking, top 3, top 10 and top 20 at each check, for the report.
LIVE FOOTPRINTS
Measure any domain, including a prospect's
A footprint runs the same live check on a domain you do not own. From its own pages and keyword planner ideas, up to 1,000 keywords, it reports keywords ranking, top 3, 10 and 20, estimated visits, traffic value, the pages that rank, and movement from the second run. Agencies use it on a prospect before the first call and on competitors every month from the agency workspace; the keyword list builder merges the competitors’ footprints into a new site’s keyword list. Check top 50 live shows a domain’s database positions next to today’s live ones, which is the fastest way to see how stale a database tracker is.
Live footprints
Domain, location, keyword count and seed phrases, then Build the footprint.
Competitors and backlinks
The domains sharing your keywords, with domain rank, backlinks and referring domains.
Plan limits for tracked keywords and the cost of extra keywords are on the SEO software pricing page. How the tracker compares with the suites is on the Semrush alternative page.
LOCAL, MOBILE AND THE MAP PACK
Rankings from the site's own city, on the device that matters
A SERP, the search engine results page a user sees for a keyword, is not one page. The same keyword returns a different page in Houston than in Dallas, a different page on mobile than on desktop, and a different page when a map pack or an AI Overview sits above the organic results. A live rank tracker checks from the site’s own location, so a service business sees the SERP its customers see, including the Google Maps pack and whether the Google Business Profile is in it. The device is part of the check, so a page that ranks on desktop and not on mobile shows as two facts, not an average.
Local keywords get the same treatment as national ones: the keyword picker reads your Google Search Console queries with the city in them, the check records the map pack beside the organic position, and the report shows both. Bing is not checked; Google is where the customers are, and the check set stays within the plan limit so the cost per check is known before it runs. The small business SEO software page shows how an owner reads the screen; the agency SEO platform page shows how an agency runs it for forty clients.
ACCURACY
What a live check adds to Search Console and Google Analytics
Google Search Console reports the average position a page held across every impression in a period, which blends cities, devices and days into one number, and it reports nothing for a keyword that got no impressions. Google Analytics shows the clicks and the sessions a page received, not where it ranked. A database tracker fills the gap with a stored SERP that may be weeks old. A live check records the exact position on the exact day, from the exact city, along with the ranking page, and the next check records the update. Put the three together and each keyword has a position, the impressions and clicks it earned, and the leads it produced, on one record.
Accuracy also means saying what a check cannot see. A personalized result for a signed-in user, a result shown only in one neighborhood of a large city, or a page that ranks differently by the hour on a volatile term will not match a single check. That is why the trend across checks matters more than any one number, and why the Rank Tracking screen shows best position and the movement since the last check beside today’s. Every term in the app has a tooltip, and the What is new page dates each change to how the check works.
CHOOSING A RANK TRACKING TOOL
What to ask before you trust an SEO tool's rankings
Every SEO tool reports rankings. The questions that separate them are about where the data comes from and what you can do with it. Ask whether the position is a live SERP check or a database read, and how old the database is. Ask whether the check runs from the site’s market, the city the customers search from, or from a data center on another continent. Ask whether the tool records the ranking page, the AI Overview and the map pack, or only a number. Ask whether a keyword that drops can be sent somewhere useful, to a scanner, a writer or a brief, or whether the insight stops at the chart. And ask what the check costs, per keyword and per month, before it runs.
SEO411.AI answers each one on the screen itself. The Schedule and cost panel shows the keyword cap, the cost per check and the cost per month for the schedule you choose, with no credits involved. The Rank Tracking table shows position, best, volume, trend, AI Overview, map pack and the ranking page for every keyword. The Home screen shows the week’s movers and an alert when a keyword drops, and the weekly or monthly report goes to the client by email under your brand on white label plans. For the brand as a whole, Competitors and Backlinks shows the domains that share your keywords, with their domain rank, backlinks and referring domains beside yours.
Rank tracking on its own does not move a site; it tells you where the work is. The data a live check produces, keyword by keyword and competitor by competitor, is what turns an SEO opportunity into a task: a competitor website holding a position your page could take, a search engine result where no page of yours appears, a country or city where the map pack is open. The SEO work then goes to the page with the most data behind it, and the next check shows whether it paid. The all in one SEO tools page shows how the tracker hands off to the brief, the scanner and the links, and the why SEO411.AI is different page explains why we built the check live when every database tool was cheaper to run.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
A live rank tracker checks Google itself for every keyword at the moment of the check, from the site’s own location, and records the position it finds. A database rank tracker reads a stored copy of the results that may be days or weeks old. In SEO411.AI every position in the app comes from a live check; there is no stored database behind the numbers.
Weekly by default, on the site’s schedule. You can set daily, monthly on the 1st, or on demand only, per site, and press Check rankings now at any time. Daily checks are part of paid plans.
On Data Included plans, live checks on tracked keywords are part of the plan within the keyword limit; the Schedule and cost panel shows the cost per check and per month for the current schedule before you save it. On Bring Your Own Data plans the check runs on your own DataForSEO account at about $0.006 a keyword to position 100.
The tracked keywords, plus Search Console queries with enough impressions over 28 days, plus the keyword of every page the writer published, de-duplicated, under the keyword cap and the plan limit. It refreshes every night and before each check, so a page the writer publishes is tracked from its first week.
A footprint measures any domain, yours, a competitor’s or a prospect’s, on Google from its own pages and keyword planner ideas, up to 1,000 keywords: keywords ranking, top 3, 10 and 20, estimated visits, traffic value, the pages that rank, and movement from the second run. Check top 50 live checks a domain’s top keywords live and shows the database position next to today’s.
Yes. Each tracked keyword shows whether Google showed an AI Overview, whether your site is cited in it, whether a map pack appeared and whether you are in it, next to the position, the best position, the trend and the page that ranks. The AI visibility screen reads the same checks.
